Our Story with Shopify
- Challenges:
- My biggest challenge when creating this store was making the site look good
- Creating and adding products
- What worked well:
- Adding staff was very easy
- Creating pages
- Changing look and feel
- App is a nice touch! Love the notifications when a sale was made, and the power I get on my phone, to manage my store.
- What could be improved:
- The Payments settings were not easy to find. Felt disconnected from the rest of the experience.
- In the theme, I wish I could modify the way the images are stacked for a better look and feel
- Empathy for Merchants:
- Going through this process made me realize first hand how much work goes into creating a store, especially when it comes to populating inventory, with the right metadata, variants, SKU's etc. It's a lot of work!
- There's so much content and design work that goes into making a store feel slick, and to make it a cohesive experience
- Takeaways:
- Shopify is a powerful tool that really makes things so much easier - the Dawn theme naturally looks great without me having to do much
- There's a lot of grunt work involved in setting up a store
- To really make a store look and feel like the way you want it to, a lot of attention to detail is required (for example designing your own custom logo)
